Offering Firearms Training and Certification for Class "D" Security Guard License holders to become Class "G" Armed Security Guard License Holders as well as "G" License for Private Investigators to Carry Armed.
Full 28 hour initial "G" License courses are offered each month as well as 2, 4 hour recertification class for your yearly requalification.
(If you are already employed by a company and are being sent by them to this class, they will let you know what they pay for and what equipment they supply}
If you are attending this class on your own and intend to work in a field where you will be wearing a uniform, you will need the following:
1. A full size firearm, supplied by you. (Compact Carry and subcompacts are usually not allowed by security companies and are very hard to qualify with on the required course of fire for your "G" License, therefore we do not allow those weapons for the class) You may use a full size revolver or semiautomatic pistol of your choice
2. Ammunition. For your initial firearms qualification, you MUST shoot the course of fire, 3 times. 48 round course, for a total of 144 rounds. So you will need at least three boxes of ammunition compatible with your firearm, .38 caliber for revolvers, 9mm, .40 cal., .45 Cal, etc. The weapons you qualify with MUST be in the Caliber that you intend to carry on duty.
WE DO NOT SUPPLY AMMUNITION!!!!
3. It is preferred that you have a full duty belt, (keepers, security holster Level II or above, and magazine holders and at least 3 magazines.
4. Hearing and Eye Protection.
If you obtaining your "G" License to work and carry as a private investigator, equipment will be dictated by your employer, but you will still need some sort of holster and magazine holders for qualifying.
Cost of the class is $350.00, (not including ammunition supplied by you and there is a $15.00 range usage fee that is paid by the student at the Gun Range, as you will be there as a Guest)
Yearly Recertification classes (4 hour) are offered two Thursdays each month. For the requalification all equipment requirements are the same, however, you are only required to shoot and qualify 1 time. So you will need at least 48 rounds in the caliber of the firearm you carry. However, if you do not qualify on the first try, you are allowed to shoot/try at least two more times to qualify, so we encourage you to bring the before mentioned 144 rounds of ammunition, just in case.
The cost of the recertification course is $150.00, not including ammunition and the $15.00 range guest fee.
If you are obtaining your "G" License as a Private Investigator and intend to carry a back up weapon, if it is in the same caliber as your primary weapon, the score sheet will cover both weapons. However, if you intend to carry a second weapon, in a different caliber, (i.e. a .38 revolver back up or a .380 back up pistol, each additional caliber will be an additional $150.00 fee.
A flyer is put out at the end of each month, announcing the dates for the Initial class and the recertification class dates for the upcoming month. If you will like to have a flyer sent to you, email me at ljisom@cox.net
